Dr. Chloe Somers, OD
Dr. Chloe Somers graduated from Queen’s University with a Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went on to New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts to obtain her Doctor of Optometry. Her training focused on ocular disease and low vision, working in Veterans Affairs hospitals in Providence, RI and Buffalo, NY. She also spent time learning from a diverse group of ophthalmologists and optometrists in Miami, FL.
After practicing in Boston, Dr. Somers decided to return home to Ontario but remains board certified in both Canada and the United States.
Outside of work, she enjoys baking, traveling, and reading.
Dr. Fatima Esmail, OD
Dr. Esmail completed her undergraduate degree in her hometown of Montreal at McGill University, followed by her degree in Optometry at City University of London, in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Esmail is board certified by the Canadian Examiners in Optometry as well as Therapeutical Pharmaceutical Agents in Canada. In the United Kingdom, she is board certified by the General Optical Council.
She is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Alberta College of Optometrists, the Association of Optometrists (U.K.) and the General Optical Council (U.K.).
Dr. Esmail has over 10 years of experience in managing a variety of eye conditions and concerns, using the latest technology and providing thorough and professional optometric care to her patients.
Dr.. Lara Bregman OD
Dr. Bregman grew up in Toronto and completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario. She then completed a Bachelor of Vision Science and her Doctor of Optometry degree, graduating with honors, from the Nova Southeastern College of Optometry in Florida. Upon graduation she received the ‘Johnson & Johnson Vision Award of Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care’ for her demonstration of skillful knowledge within the contact lens field. Throughout her education she gained extensive knowledge to diagnose and treat various ocular diseases and co-manage ocular surgeries such as cataracts. While training through clinical externships she practiced under skilled opthalmologists specializing in Cataracts, Glaucoma, Retina and Oculoplastics. Dr. Bregman was inducted into the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society, a membership awarded to those who achieve academic excellence. Membership to the Gold Key International Society was also awarded to Dr. Bregman for her outstanding leadership, scholarship and value to the class, college and profession. While practicing back in Canada, Dr. Bregman completed further education in the Myopia Control, completing the ‘MiSight’ Certification to offer additional treatment options to the growing epidemic within the pediatric population. In her spare time you may find Dr. Bregman walking around the community, spending quality time with family or skiing the slopes.
Dr. Shimon Cabrera, OD
Since 2015, Dr. Cabrera has been focused on improving the ocular health of his patients. Uniquely trained also as a pharmacist he can also detect when the medications a patient is taking is impacting the health of their eyes. Dr. Cabrera speaks Tagalog in addition to English. And in his spare time he is an accomplished musician, playing electric and acoustic guitar, keyboard as well as drums.

Retinal imaging takes a digital picture of the back of your eye. It shows the retina (where light and images hit), the optic disk (a spot on the retina that holds the optic nerve, which sends information to the brain ), and blood vessels. This helps your optometrist or ophthalmologist find certain diseases and check the health of your eyes.

The visual field test is a subjective measure of central and peripheral vision, or “side vision,” and is used by your doctor to diagnose, determine the severity of, and monitor your glaucoma. The most common visual field test uses a light spot that is repeatedly presented in different areas of your peripheral vision.
